The gardens are spider-full at the moment - so lots of opportunity for practice :-)
I like the sun shining on the web and spider, that the spider has a plain background and is sharp against the leaves (crocosmia?)
Think Rachel meant the leaves not the spider. Looks like crocosmia to me too. Are there little orange or yellow flowres growing in a 'freesia' pattern along the stem? This is a perfect year for that flower and ours are spectacular right now.
I think spiders are very difficult to take a photo of, because of their size. This time of year there are lots of spiders, so you can practice a lot. Past days I had 3 big ones in my house - NOT the right place to be for a spider. Didn't make an attempt to photograph them, they where caught in a different way...
Great light by the way!
@anoeska Anoeska, thanks for all your comments! Listen, spiders are the good guys, they take care of all the really nasty things that you really don't want to have around!
@peadar I know, but I only accept them in the house when I do not see them. I once slept on a very big one. I hope that was the first and last time I did that.
