This was our challenge yesterday. By this evening, we will complete the "Warwickshire Ring" and start the journey back to the boat's home marina. This is SOOP (straight out of the phone) but turned out quite well.

@fishers Ian, we are just on a stretch of the canals that have a lot of locks (to get into and out of Birmingham); some canals are lock-free, and on the rivers the locks are usually manned and operated by lock-keepers!
I find the whole system of canals very impressive, with so many technical developments as the canals grew and developed. It is surprising where there are long stretches without locks. It is said that the longest lock free section is on the Lancaster canal, and stretches some 43 miles, in an area that can hardly be described as flat! I'm really enjoying your canal travels.
