Hog deer by peadar

Hog deer

If I have remembered correctly, this is a Hog Deer. Found in regions of Myanmar, Pakistan and Northern Thailand, they are called hog deer as they have a habit of running head down through the undergrowth like a wild boar. Hog deer live in small herds or as solitary animals, in recent years their conservation status has been increased from least concern to endangered, the main cause of this decline are the hunting and habitat degradation. Only the males grow antlers in breeding season.

Many thanks for all your recent comments, I am glad you are enjoying the wildlife park series. I think there's probably one more to share...
