I don't have a photo for today, so I'm using shots from Sunday, September 4 when Harper was baptized by her great grandfather (lower right). It was a very special day with lots of family who were there for our annual family reunion over the long Labor Day weekend.
The church, Trinity Episcopal Church, was founded in 1774. It was occupied by Union forces during the Civil War; was destroyed by fire in 1876, and rebuilt on the same site in 1881.
~ Harper's mom and dad were married in this same church in 2005.
What a happy day for you all & Harper looks so smart in her white dress!! Lovely to be able to keep it in the family like that & such a special occasion ! Great collage too ! Is she your only grandchild up to now Peggy ?
ahhhh.... giving her back to God are ya? what a wonderful thing to do for her.... she belongs to Him is entrusted to you and yours and will do well to Know HIM... Train up a child in the which they should go!
@happypat Thanks, Pat ~ she is the one and only. I suspect there will be others in the future, but for now Harper is the sole owner of the 'Grandmother' section of my heart. :)
What special photos Peggy - and what a great place to have a family reunion and incorporate a christening when everyone can join in. A bit of an early walker there too? Luckily I'm reliably informed that the Grandmother hear-section can keep on growing!! (As supplier of a first grandchild I happen to think they remain the 'special' one, despite unbounded love for the res,t but I may be biased ;0) )
@judithg Thanks, as always, for your lovely comments, Judith! I have no doubt that my Grandmother heart section is totally expandable. :) As much as I would like to consider Harper a prodigy in every area, she started walking at 11.5 months ~ which is within the 'average/normal' range. But you should hear her play Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor. :)
@Weezilou Well, 'preferences' might be a better choice of words than 'rules'...as there are no true rules regarding thank you responses. However, many months ago (last winter, maybe?) there was a discussion concerning "Thank Yous" that generated a lengthy thread of responses...it seemed that the majority of people were somewhat put off by generic/group thank yous for photo comments and would prefer not to have their notification box filled with said responses. After being presented with that reality, many 365ers, myself included, who formerly thanked everyone for their comments decided to let it be assumed they were most appreciative and limit their response to comments to answering specific questions about their photos. All that being said, it's still a totally personal choice and each person is certainly allowed to conduct thanking as they see fit. :)
Thanks so much for the info, Peggy, and I appreciate the time you gave to that! I assumed there had been a thread as I've been absent a long while. I try to look through general discussions once in awhile, but it's nearly impossible to catch up on everything! Your assistance was appreciated!
That would be great to hear - and I hope grandad isn't letting those guitar lessons slip! My son did walk early but it didn't foretell any great prowess in anything - just that he had chunky legs!!
What a lovely collage, depicts the day well. Harper looks beautiful in her 'Sunday best' dress, isn't it wonderful being a grandma/nan, I have two grandchildren (Caitlyn and Alex) and they give me and my husband so much pleasure.
