First off, thank you all for your well wishes yesterday. This is such an encouraging, supportive community!
Not quite ready to spend more time outside in the cold than necessary, I decided to try my hand at some architectural shots today. I visited our state capitol building where a MLK observance and other political rallies were taking place. It was sometimes difficult to get the shots I wanted with the people milling about, but I am happy with this one of the capital dome.
Lovely! I like the fact that you haven't just placed yourself right under the centre and looked up. You have put in that lovely pillar pointing to the dome as well.
this is lovely.. i like the gold starts on the blue dome..now if only the people would leave so you can properly lie down and get all the shots you want .lol :-)
@pflaume and a great job you are doing of it! Keep up the good work (and I will keep coming back to admire, and get extremely jealous of, your excellent shots)
Staggering pov the angle at which this was taken almost turns the image into an optical illusion : sublime tones and the curling lights become patterned part of illusion ! Brilliant a fav
Great shot Lisa. Love the lines on the dome. I bet they'd kick you out if you lay down to take it. Some people don't appreciate us do they. Great sharp image nicely done.
I enjoy your non-traditional composition very much. I wonder if you would consider an alternate presentation and make this a vertical, so the soaring pillar is at the bottom, acting as a base for the eye to follow to the dome. Your way is beautiful. Its just that my eye sees an alternative.
@rvwalker Thank you for your comment, Ross. I appreciate your alternative perspective. I am sure that I will be back to the Capitol and will definitely try it.
And ditto what Paul @steampowered said. It becomes a point of reference.
