One final vacation photo. We visited the historic little town of Roseberry, Idaho. The town was originally settled by Finnish immigrants and grew to be the largest community in the area. Life was booming there until 1914 when the railroad decided to lay its track 1 1/2 miles to the west of town. That decision was a death sentence for the little community. Roseberry began to decline and faded into a ghost town. Beginning in the 1970's, one man decided to restore the town and rebuilt one building at a time, a massive undertaking. It's now 20 buildings total and very interesting to explore - and photograph.
This photo is a detail of one of the original Finnish cabins, hence the little Finnish flag in the window. There's also the hint of a selfie in the reflection.
I like the details in your shot - the Finnish flag.
Your description reminds me what is going to happy here. We have a small town called Otaki that sit in-between Wellington and other major cities in North Island. The government is promoting to build a highway bypass – that worries locals tremendously for the same reason.
Lovely shot Lisa! I could see the reflection and was so focused on that I didn't see the flag until you mentioned it! lol I love that weathered wood and the lace curtain.
love the lace and glass and wood. AND the little selfie, tho you look twelve. the bit of red is very nice too :) what a fun find, info and fascinating exploration
