- As I approached the bridge there was a stranger underneath it.
- I could see him from a long way ahead as I walked up to the bridge !
- I approached the bridge with caution.
- Would I be safe walking underneath it?
- It's a lonely spot
- Why was he standing there on his own for all that time?
- Eeek what do I do ?
Actually I am telling a story. The stranger isn't a stranger but he's my colleague and friend from work. I asked him to stand underneath the bridge to make the scene a little more interesting ! Menacing perhaps (not that he could ever be described as menacing !)
I took a couple of pictures inside the brige with the light shining through, but the scene defeated my little android phone and I had to settle for this shot instead.
I have made it very high contrast and slightly infra red to add to the mystery.
Thanks to Behnam for standing there while I took a few quick pictures (a two minute photo shoot and a 5 minute edit in photoshop elements !)
I do like the gritty texture of the bridge. I'm guessing in the summer the addition of foliage creates an entirely different atmosphere. Adding the figure makes for a much more interesting composition, especially with the contrasting B&W garments. I'm curious how many other views you can get of this bridge!
@allie912 Many thanks Allison, I've not been there in summer, so I look forward to seeing how the scene changes. I do like figures in my landscapes. As for the contrasting B&W garments, we have to cross the shop floor to get out of the office so we have to wear high visability jackets ...they are a bit bright for a colour landscape but work well here :)
@jenlyn999 Jennifer thank you for your comments, the bridge does look different from the other side. I suppose the difference helps that the light was totally different on both days too
@oblateal Cheers Al, I just wish my shots inside the bridge were good enough to popst, but unfortunately the light was too much for a mobile phone shot
@gill Thank you Gill your comments are always well received. I did go a bit heavy on the contrast but I think the image needed it. As for the lone figure, well out of shot there's another colleague on top of the bridge telling us to get a move on as lunchtime is almost over.... if I had two strange men under the bridge it would be even more mysterious !
@sparkle Juliette, you are right, a canal is a good opportunity for a whole range of photos ! I've done a few along this stretch in my lunch time. Thanks for the high praise
