ANOTHER SAINT MARY'S CHURCH - DIFFERENT TOWN THIS TIME
My previous days picture was St. Mary's church, in Arnold, Nottingham (near where I live).
Todays picture is another St. Mary's church, in Solihull, Birmingham (near where I work).
Yes I did say Solihull, it's a long commute when I'm in the office !
Yesterdays picture was an old village church (not that Arnold is a village any more), todays picture is a modern (1966) church in a suburb of Birmingham.
Anyway despite this being a modern church, it needed a B/W conversion to make it look it's best.
Shot on my mobile phone (HTC Desire) on a dull grey MOnday lunch time.
This is what most Churches look like here in America. I think they lack character. The stone walkway seems out of place with the modern building. I love the composition and the story behind it. (and I know exactly where B'ham is : ).
@joi Joi, the quality of the image of this church does not compare to the previous days church, but I suppose the sun and light was totally different ! Thanks for your kind support
Gosh, there is a church in Harlow Town that looks exactly the same as this (though to take the shot you would've been stood in the middle of the roundabout!!) great B&W - love the simple composition and path perspective
@seattle Thanks for your comments, I suppose the thing about churches is that they are a place of worship, so what goes on inside is probably more important than what the outside looks likes...hey that was quite a deep thought from me :)
The design looks very similar to public buildings of the same era here in the US. Can't say it really appeals to me, especially the lack of landscaping. I think you have probably improved it as much as possible with your camera.
@allie912 Thanks Allison for your continued support , it's not the most appealing pf buildings, but it probably means a lot to the parishoners who worship there
i like the b and w
@phil_howcroft @sparkle was gonna post another St Mary's cos of yours, but the sun was right at me.. very suburban 60's indeed.
