A twig with some blossom on the end plonked into a rather nice glass vase.
This is a macro shot of the bottom of the vase showing the twig seen through the glass.
You can see little bubbles in the water, reflections, texture on the glass and the colours of the background shining through the glass too.
I'm quite suprised how nice this little image has turned out to be.
I did an image with the twig going from top left to bottom right i.e. diagonally across the frame, because I thought that compositionally a diagonal might work slightly better than this one with the twig straight down the middle of the frame. However, rules of composition are meant to be broken and I think that the curly bit at the bottom breaks the centre line so this is what I posted.
A slight crop to remove a bit of bright light on the left hand side of the frame.
Phil, you got some wonderful textures in here! I thought the bubbles were actually bubbles in the vase at first - glad you explained. It looks like a 'J' or a very long-toed boot! Very nice!!
I bet when you started this, you never thought...I know I'll take a photo of a twig in jar!! LOL One can get some great effects like your bubbles. I've done this a couple of times, not intentionally, just passing the vase and thought that looks a good idea!! That's how this place gets you!!!
@gill Thank you Gill, I saw the colours and lighting, but I was pleased that when I did the shot there was a lot of 'texture' to be seen in the finished product. It's nice that we can photograph such simple objects and make them look pretty :)
Love the effervescence of the bubbles and the subtle color of the twig. I am in the Atlanta airport catching up on comments while I wait for my flight to Richmond-- 2 hours away. Love my iPad for work on the go.
