Just returned from a weeks holiday / vacation in Menorca, Spain, so I'm way way behind on posting and commenting.
It will take me a few days to catch up, so this is the start of my 'catching up'.
My weeks worth of photos was just 'beach', 'sea', 'sky', 'waves' and 'weather shots'...so don't expect too many surprises.
This is a board walk that enters the beach from the dunes. I think images like this work well in B/W. It's very much my standard technique of 'shoot from as low as possible' to emphasise angles and lead in lines', but I like the effect it produced.0
I was going to go for grainy black and white...but then there's lots of grains in the sand !!!!!!! Oh err bad pun to begin my posts !!!
I don't know if the image would look better with a figure on the end of the board walk, but nobody came along to oblige and the wife wasn't going to pose in the distance in her bikini !
Gorgeous Phil! I wouldn't have thought to do this in black and white but it really works. I don't think you need a person on the board walk because the shadows on the boards work well on their own. Hope you and 'the wife' had a nice relaxing holiday.
Awesome shot, Phil, I really like this. The perspective is well-chosen, and b&w is perfect for this shot. Love the different textures, the clouds, the sand, and the wood...
Straight in with the arty shot eh? - The lead in lines work well here, and I like the way that the walkway leads off into nothingness - it gives a comtemplative air to the shot.
Oh Phil your holiday photos are way better than mine !!! This is a fantastic shot, much more sophisticated than my blurred & wet Irish offerings that I have !!!
@sparkle Juliette thanks for the BIG thumbs up on this...it was one of my early shots of the hol , but i knew as soon as i captured it i had a half decent shot :)
Fav for me Phil - great shot - lovely tones. I don't think grainy B&W would have had such a lovely soft effect - soft isn't the word I'm searching for really but it has a lovely quality of light to it.
hope you had a good break btw... shame you didn't bring the sun back with you...
good to see you back, and yeah, really great shot mate.
