I've been off work today and we took advantage of the good weather to go for a walk in the Derbyshire Peak District (about 45 - 50 mins from Nottingham)
My wife, Ruby and me, walked from just south of Baslow (Robin Hood Car Park) on the Chatsworth Estate, towards Curbar Edge
I took a few landscape shots but the hazy morning light did not really make for a brilliant pictures.
I took some more after our picnic lunch, but I didn't really do the landscape justice.
So you are stuck with a picture of 'one man and his whippet' . The lighting is not that kind here as the sun remained low all day and is casting bright lighting from the left.
This is Ruby sitting on my knee after a little stop to admire the view and have half a banana.
My android phone app said we walked 4 miles, which may not seem very far, but to travel those 4 miles we had to climb two massive hills twice - once there once back, the app said the lowest altitude was 761 feet and the highest altitude was 1132 feet
Stats:
Duration
2h:37m:21s (includes lunch stop and banana stop)
Avg Speed
1.4 mph
Max Speed
6.6 mph
Altitude
761 ft / 1132 ft
Elevation
715 ft ↑ / 741 ft ↓
Anyway, this is me and Ruby...
The farmers instructions in fields said dogs must be on leads...we passed a few sheep and a massive cow with enormous horns (quite scary).
Sounds like a fab walk and a long way as 4 miles round here involves an altitude change of between sea level and 20m above sea level if you're lucky! Ruby looks lovely & clean....
You are good country code keepers !!! Lovely picture of you & Ruby & the sun is out too !!! Sounds like a great walk, I went for a walk this afternoon too on my own though as Harry has a bad cold ...I was walking off the excess of the week end !! By the way you look younger than I thought !!!!
Great shot - we once owned a whippet rejoicing in the original name of Whip! Ken grew up on the Derbyshire side of Sheffield and we did a lot of our courting walking in the Peak district - climbed Kinder Scout the first time! Must be time to go back there - thanks for the memory!
@sleepdozer57 cheers peter, i told the wife that you were impressed with her photo technique. The stats are from a little free app that runs on my android phone...endomondo sports tracker ....cracking little app...after the walk it uploads it to a website and you can see you walk on google maps :)
phil, like your instructions and love the stats.
