Looking for Summer Sun In The Winter Sun

This was shot today in the low winter sun on a lunch time walk.

A man looking in the travel agents window for a discounted summer holiday.

I like the light of the low winter sun as it lights up the brickwork and makes the brickwork almost glow.

The window adverts are suffering from a bit of reflected glare, but the image seems to work as a bit of social history.

I haven't booked a holiday through a high street travel agent for many years. The internet has made booking hols a lot easier. Having said that though, the credit crunch and current economic climate make travelling independently slightly less comfortable because you don't necessarily know if the company you are trading with will still be trading in six months time !

This location has appeared on my 365 before !

Oh cheers mate... Just spent over a grand on 3 tickets to India through one of them 'I never heard of them before' website and now I hear they might go belly-up haha....

Good spot here btw :-)

@andycoleborn cheers Andy...well if they don't go 'belly up'...the next step is to ensure you don't get 'dehli belly' :)

That man probably longs for a place like Florida! I wish him luck with finding a good price and a good place to go! And, that his tickets are still good when the time comes! One of these days, I'd love to trade houses for a week or two with some one from merry old England! That would be great fun, indeed! Sadly, I don't live in Florida or California and the closest beach is two and a half hours away!

@marlboromaam Maggie thnx for your comments, Nottingham is well over 2 hours drive from the beach / seaside and that bit of coast is not the best in England !!

We Brits have to fly to the Mediterranean to guarantee summer sun !!! Spain, Greece and France being the destination of choice for most Brits :)

I think you would be surprised how green our country is (it rains a lot !!)

The reflections of the winter sun really bring your title home and who of us isn't already thinking of warmer places! As long as there are people who want to interact with people, perhaps the travel agency will be safe.

@new2this ann, thnx, it is sometimes hard to think of titles, but I think a good title can really make a difference to a shot....it's also good that we can explain the shot in our narratives too

We use internet too to book tickets although will use them when we book soon for next Christmas & it's a more complicated trip.
Your man has short legs !!!!! Either that or the window is big LOL ! Isn't it fun people watching ?

January 11th, 2012
@happypat Pat, I think his 'trendy coat' makes his legs look little

I spent all morning arguing with travel insurance people who want to charge me £270 extra because I once got caffeine-induced palpitations - god help anybody's that's actually ill.... So at the moment I'm very grumpy about foreign holidays - I'm going to try more specialist companies who actually do a risk analysis! Sorry - stropping on your photo!

I love the folk you shoot. This bloke is clearly yearning for another holiday break... to get over Christmas probably!
