One afternoon on our holiday it was a bit cloudy so we hired a couple of bikes and rode around aimlessly (one road out of the village ...one road in), but we did go off road through the forests too.
We saw some beautiful horses in a field (well we saw a few really), but most were camera shy and would not turn to camera.
This was about the best shot I got, but it does illustrate the beauty of the local landscape and I do like the tail wafting between the horses.
I'm still over a week behind I don't know if I'll ever catch up, but I've only another two shots to post from Mallorca.
Beautiful tranquil shot, and soft subtle colours. Love the slanting trees in the background, prevailing wind? Don't worry about catching up Phil, you will be forgiven!
I love the idea of wild horses to accompany your wild goats. Here in Virginia there is a herd of feral ponies living on Assateague island which legend states are descended from survivors of wrecked Spanish galleons off the Virginia coast. It is more likely that they descend from stock released on the island by 17th century colonists looking to escape livestock laws and taxes on the mainland. Anyway every summer the herd is thinned by the volunteer fire dept. who sells the extras to sustain their operations. Tourists come from all over to watch the ponies swim from Assateague to Chincoteague Island and then bid on the ponies in a fund-raising auction. I have never gone but they have been conducting this auction for over 50 years to keep the herd from getting too large and stripping the island of vegetation.
@allie912 Allison, you must go to see the Assateague island ponies, it must be an impressive sight
@happypat Pat thnx for your comments, i agree the horses do look healthy
