This is the fish market ......Mercado De Pescados, in Mahon (Mao), Menorca, Spain. According to the sign as we entered the market it was built in 1927.
We stumbled upon the market while wandering the streets, we had a wander around and I shot a dozen or so shots with my little Panny TZ7. I then said to the wife I wanted to do some shots with my 'big camera' (my trunk as my daughters call it !!!)
I got lots of shots while wandering round...some people shots of the fishmongers, some people shots of the customers and of course some produce shots of the fish !
I liked this shot because of the sunlight streaming into the building casting wonderful light and shade on the floor. I also like the steel girder roof, so this one made it to 365.
When I took my big camera in the market my wife sat on a bench having a bottle of aqua and texting my eldest daughter to tell her about the smell....she has never liked the smell of fish (my daughter ) , so the exchange of texts was quite amusing as dad did his mercado shots
I agree with the smell of fish & am not a great fish eater unlike Harry who would eat fish every meal.(.fat chance) but i really like to look at fish when it is well displayed & fresh like this. Love the squares of light & the long perspective, the stall holder is gesturing in a typical foreign way don't you think?
@judithg thanks Judith.......good job pictures cannot smell, otherwise I think this would be deleted by the admins of 365 !!! The light is fab though :)
Lovely Market shot Phil , Linda and I went there about 5 yrs ago , like you we stumbled on the market . Then took a trip up the river .. Hope you had as good a time as we did
A beautiful example of form following function. I am with your daughter about the smell of fish. That's why your picture is so great; I can see without having to smell!
