October Sunflower by phil_howcroft

October Sunflower

Well this sunflower was grown from a seed from last years sunflower.

Sunflowers at the end of October !!! What does that tell you about our summer?

Last years was out at the beginning of September!

If you look carefully you can see the 'dewy cobwebs' surrounding the flower...Good old misty October mornings !
So who won the competition for last year's biggest sunflower?! I think I'm going to grow a patch of small ones near the hen area next summer - they are so lovely to see - and what a treat in October (if slightly weird!)! Nice cobwebs too.

@judithg thanks judith, I think we might have been a bit late planting our seeds .... I claimed first place for highest sunflower, but my wife's (Jane) was much prettier :)

Celebration flower for your new gaffer!
Welles had absolute beach wear at weekending Wales, and I mean proper hot sunshine.

You do love your sunflowers Phil & especially a very welcome sight in our sunless summer. Our next door neighbours always grow these flowers outside their kitchen door & they always look cheerfully.
I like the ring of web.
