This was meant to be picture 500 - but it's 501 - me, myself I
I reached picture 500 yesterday.
This was meant to be my 500th picture, a milestone shot, but I hadn't scanned enough pictures, so it's number 501
As some of you will know, I've been scanning my dad's archive of slides and monochrome prints and some of you suggested I share some on here.
So here they are scanned images of me. The three colour images are my images rather than my Dad's
From Left To Right ....top to bottom.....
1) Me in the back yard, late 1950's (well i am 55 years old so I was a a 50's baby)
2) Me in the back street mid to late 1960's
3) Me , sledging' in the snow with my youngest daughter ...1991
4) Me on Blackpool promenade with my Grandparents ...1961
5) Me in the back street in Bolton on my 'too big bike', that my dad bough from the window cleaner
6) Me on the wooden train that goes between Palma and Soller in Mallorca, 2005
7) Me mid 1970's wearing a cheese cloth shirt and some outrageous trousers !
8) Me doing my homework listening to the football on the radio ...mid 1970's
9) Me in 2012 .....in Menorca, Spain
I hope I am still posting on 365 for picture 1000...a lot has happened in the first 500 pictures
- My football team were relegated
- My daughter got engaged
- We got a little dog - Ruby
- My youngest daughter came back to Nottingham from Leeds
- My youngest daughter bought a house with her boyfriend
- My Dad died
- The Sunday TImes bought one of my pictures !
- I'm teaching some 'associates' from offshore how to do my job, so it can be 'offshored' and they can provide a better service than what myself and my colleagues do !!!!!!
What a great collection! You look more like your youngest self than the teenage version. Nice format - id that gimp? Which photo did the Sunday Times buy then and how did I miss it?
This is really nice, Phil. I like your list too. I'm sure this project helps enormously with remembering the significant things. I noticed that in pic 8 you look like a stunt double for Benedict Cumberbatch! :)
I like the top middle one but a great collection of pictures Phil. Great shirt!
I nice little potted history of the highlights of the last year & a bit. Love this great big collage you can see all the photos clearly, unlike some collages!
@judithg@sleepdozer57 Judith / Peter I edited with Pic monkey , but saved it as a .png file rather than jpeg....as for the sunday times...well...It's a long story...I post some of my 'bessie pics from 365 on flickr'...there's a few ex 365'er on flickr....anyway flickr have a tie up with Getty Images ....and some curator on flickr invited me to post some images on Getty...to my shock the Sunday Times bough a pic of flickr / Getty......I only got a few dollars for it ( a low res copy) ....I assume it was for the online version...You are not told what they bought if for though...so I've not seen it 'published' ...this is the shot... http://365project.org/phil_howcroft/365/2012-03-18
Buoyed by this little success I'm thinking of trying to sell some independently....I've signed up to redbubble (although not posted any pics yet) and i'm thinking of doing a photobox selling account...a bit presumptuous that someone might want to buy some of my shots , but hey I've done one !!! Also given the last line of my comments on my pic ...teaching my job so it goes offshore...i may need another string to my bow !
@busylady judith, it's quite a daunting task scanning the images , especially as they usually need cropping and adjusting in Gimp or photoshop elements
Wow, 500 Phil! Congratulations! Love the collections of shot & your notations about each one. Made me laugh, my husband had a pair of trousers just like those in the 70's!!!
Thats absolutely wonderful, what a fun collage through the ages, love the cheesecloth shirt, ahhhhh those were the days, as pat said all of them so wonderfully clear, congratulations on the collage and the 501!!
A fun collage and a great time piece for your changing life. You have kept your good looks throughout the years! Well done. Love the shot that was on Getty Images. You should continue to post on Getty, you have some good shots.
A wonderful pictorial history. Lots of memories for you and your family. I faved it because to me is shows one of the beauties of being a photographer -- to share those memories with others. Good job.
@seattle thanks constance...the getty images have to be 'invited from flickr'..you cannot post your own selection !!! The 'good looks' comment is most appreciated :)
Love the too big bike one
