Peacock on Buddleia

I've been trying to photograph a butterfly for ages and despite this upload, I still don't think I've done it justice to our garden visitors.

This is a peacock butterfly, sat on our Buddleia bush.

They flutter around far too quickly.

I've dished advice out to fellow 365'ers saying try to photograph them early morning or late evening when it is a bit cooler and they don't move as fast. Well I've not practised what I preached because this is not early morning or late evening (they don't go on the bush at those times).

Hope you like my peacock...I'm not totally convinced about it !
Never seen one of these before! I can see why it is called a peacock except it doesn't have those luminous peacock blue colours! Very detailed design!

It's a beautiful shot. I even like how the lilac of the flower is picked up in his spots. I have to say that I find these slightly easier to capture than the cabbage whites - they just see me coming every time I try to capture them.

I think it's fabulous Phil - those 'eyes' really ping. Like @busylady I like the purple in flower and flutterby.

I really like this Phil - they are so tricky to capture - you did a great job here - superb vibrant colours. I used to see these a lot as a kid, but haven't seen any for ages
