A walk in Burntstump Country Park by phil_howcroft

A walk in Burntstump Country Park

In a desperate attempt to solve Ruby's 'car sickness', we bought a car 'dog guard' and decided she should travel in the boot of the car with a comfy 'dog quilt / blanket' combo.

We've tried it out over the past few days and she seems to quite like travelling in the boot (I might add we have a 5 door hatchback, so when I say boot it just means she has a nice bit of the car to herself.

On Thursday morning, we drove to Arnold Burntstump Country Park and for a brisk mid morning walk and photo shoot opportunity.

This is Jane and Ruby, walking through the woods. It's quite a grainy monochrome conversion.....not much light made it into the woods, so the ISO level was bumped up. I tweaked the channel mixer in GIMP and seem to have stumbled upon an almost infra red conversion.

My two weeks 'post wedding home holiday / vacation' is now finished and it's back to work on Monday to shed loads of work !

Lovely tall trees here to walk under, my favourite sort of walk! We had a car sick dog and I found short distances, getting out for short walks, which he loved, seemed to help!

This could almost be a winter shot Phil....I like this in b/w & those trees trunks show up really well. Little Ruby is staying close at heal like a good girl too! So much better when you can take your dog with you for an outing!

What a lovely scene, captured well by you, despite the lack of light. I think that lack of light makes for some wonderful atmosphere. :)

Glad to hear you've sorted out Rub's preferred way to travel! Gosh this looks almost wintry! I guess it's the b&w

Like this and glad Ruby's better in the car...Car sickness is no fun, but at least if you're a human sufferer you can ask to stop and get out...

The work doesn't disappear in your absence does it?! Ah well - good to know they need you. Good news for Ruby - I'm having terrible trouble getting Monty in the boot since we went to Northumberland and he had to go on the seat next to Rachel - now he thinks that's where he should always travel!

@judithg thanks judith....well you cannot blame monty for preferring sitting next to rachel as opposed to the boot :)

@busylady judith you are right the scene does resemble winter

@doyouseewhatisee thanks meredith, the lack of light has made some nice grain in the shot
