50 mono portraits at 50mm : No. 6 : Happy

I don't know if this passes as a portrait, but it was shot with my 50mm, it's mono and to quote a couple of definitions of portraits ..."a painting, drawing, sculpture, photograph, or other likeness of an individual, esp of the face"......"A painting, drawing, photograph, or engraving of a person, especially one depicting only the face or head and shoulders:".....Well maybe it just about passes

Anyway this is the Riverside Festival , Nottingham

Two revellers dance the afternoon away as a guitar band (the bikini beach band, who don't sing) ...a sort of cross between Bert Weedon, Hank Marvin and Jimmy Page (very surreal) played Pharrell Williams "Happy" (even more surreal). I'm not making this up...honest !

Shooting with a 50mm lens you have to get quite close to your subjects , so I pointed my camera at the lady and nodded and she nodded back, so I took that as approval to take a couple of shots.

I defy anyone not to feel happy after watcing Pharrell Williams "Happy" video (see you tube link)

Shot at f2.8 to ensure a shallow DOF to ensure the two revellers reamin the centre of interest

I think you got two for the price of one here Phil! Both great portraits. I've never heard of Pharrell Williams or the Happy video, but just watched it to the end and I love it! I need to keep it to watch again and again!
