50 mono portraits at 50mm : No. 16 : Greater Manchester Police Officer

This is the 3rd portrait I 'bagged' at the football on Saturday.

I approached this officer and his colleague explaining I was doing a photography project and would it be OK to take his photo.

He obliged, but I had to wait a minute while he dealt with an irate Sheffield Wednesday fan who had been directed to the wrong part of the stadium.

I was surprised he said yes, I thought it might be illegal to take photos of police officers !

Post processed in GIMP / G'MIC with an Agfa film emulation with the contrast boosted.

You bagged it for sure! Nice portrait and legal too!

Even I am amazed that he let you take his picture. I was under the impression that British policemen were too serious. Great portrait shot.

One of his more pleasant jobs I would think & not one he would ever do again perhaps ! Brave you ......takes courage to ask for a photo from someone you don't know & a policeman to boot! I like it because he isn't smiling.

Well when Adam was in the cubs they had to do a 'treasure hunt' round towns and as part of it they were asked to take a photo of a traffic warden and were refused on the grounds of 'anti-terrorism'!! Clearly the GM police are made of sterner stuff.

@sangwann thanks dione, glad you like :)

@happypat thanks Pat, I am feeling a bit more confident now on approaching strangers :)

@judithg ahh judith, that's crazy about the traffic warden !! I don't think a bloke with a waitrose shopping bag and a flask is much of a terrorist threat :)

I did not realize they still wore those helmets. This looks very retro. Great processing and congrats on getting him to agree to a pic.
