This is the Nottingham Council House, set in the Market Square (aka 'slab square').
The area has been transformed into a "Winter Wonderland". Well, when I say winter wonderland, it's a few stalls selling fast food and novelties, some fairground rides and pièce de résistance an ice rink.
The ice rink looks pretty cool, with a Christmas Tree as a centre piece (well an off centre piece actually).
I couldn't get the whole 'council house' into the scene due to the said stalls blocking the view.
Anyway, it does look nice. The balls floating between the pillars are the Christmas decorations. If I'd photographed the building when the clock had turned another hour, then they may have shown up a bit better
@judithg thanks Judith, it really is known as the 'council house'. There was a surreal moment too people crowded around the edge of the rink looking at the ice, with no skaters on !!! We are easily amused in Nottingham :)
Beautiful building and beautifully decorated. Great capture. It is only now that decorations for Christmas have started setting up in Malta. It's more like Summer is coming than Winter at the moment.
What a great POV!! So much here to take in and your comp is perfect. Love the blue tones on the dome...great detail. Magnificent structure. Perhaps we'll see some ice skaters???
