I've been itching to get a shot like this for some time now i.e. a person on the top of the steps and me at the bottom
I walk across this bridge every day on my lunchtime walk. It crosses the tram an train lines at Basford tram stop.
When I saw this man walking over the bridge i walked briskly to ensure I was at the bottom. It was a one press shot on my mobile phone , maybe i was two steps short of him being at the top.
I really wanted him to be a bit further to the right so there is a gad between him and the rail.
I suppose I could stand at the bottom every day and wait for people to appear, but I only get 30 mins at lunchtime and this bridge is nearly on the half way point of my walk. Oh and standing at the bottom with my mobile phone pointing up the steps might seem a bit strange to passers by or the workers in the nearby industrial units.

Gotta love all those Horizontals vs Verticals.
Haha - yeah, chasing the shot vs wsiting the shot. I just missed a stunning winter sun in the sky behind church ruins yesterday. Seconds too late..
Love your commentary on this great shot!! Good job with your camera phone! I like these kind of shots also....had to giggle at your description of what people might be thinking of you pointing your camera at the backside of the guy going up the stairs. All for the sake of our art!!
Isn't it great when a plan comes together like this? I can see why you wanted it, it makes for a pleasingly strong composition and there's a cool, decisive moment look to it too. The neutral colour monochrome looks good but I'd be interested to see it as a pure b&w too.
