50 mono portraits at 50mm : No. 30 : Programme Seller Number 4
I'm back on track with my 50 mono portraits project again.
Now that winter is fading slightly, the pre match light at the football is improving, so I decided to grab a shot before the match
This is my fourth 'Bolton Wanderers matchday programme seller' in the series. I nearly have a complete set of them now !!
This gentleman sells the programees in front of the stadium from his motability scooter
I asked him if I could take his picture and he was really pleased to sit for me :) although he did not actually sit on his scooter. He thanked me for taking his picture when I showed him the shot on the back of my camera :)
As fot the match , Bolton Wanders returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion, thanks to a sublime bit of finishing from 19 years old Zach Clough
Post processed in GIMP, with levels (set white point), a G'MIC filter of dynamic range increase, then a desaturate and contrast adjustment. Oh and I di a crop and slight sharpen too
Hurrah, a win for Bolton at last. May this winning streak continue. I love your monochrome portraits, Phil. And this is another great one. As for me I wouldn't dare go on somebody - even if he/she is someone I know, and ask them to pose for me.
This is just a wonderful portrait which 'speaks' to the viewer. I just got a 50mm lens so I think I'll follow you to see what you get up to - and maybe pick up some tips!!!!
You are good at the portraits Phil......a kindly face here & I appluad your bravery in asking. Like Hazel I should practice the portrait job......I don't know whether I am brave enough! No family member is keen except perhaps Lydia.....I might have a go on her!
@happypat thanks pat , you could practice on your trip to New York. New York is one big diverse community and I am sure the New Yorkers will be quite obliging to let you take a pic :)
Very nice detailing and tones, and the subject seems to be so relaxed and self-confident. Great portrait - this person really looks appealing to the viewer.
This is lovely, as usual, Phil. I think people being obliging has a lot to do with being approached by a friendly, relaxed and respectful photographer. You are plainly in your element in this genre.
@sangwann go on dione, ask someone for a shot, you will be surprised, noone says NO, if you approach them with a smile and the reason for the shot :
@maggiemae thank maggie, glad you think it is natural
@eyesmile cheers gena, today was almost 'spring like' until it damped down and rained !!
@swilde many thanks sue :)
@allie912 it is not very technical allison, it is only a 5 minute edit
@espyetta thanks MB. I am out of my comfort zonw with this mono portraitrs series
@kerristephens thanks kerri
@dulciknit ahh thnx alison, I just smile ask politely and let them know I'm doing a 'little project on portraits', no one has said no (yet) :) :)
@judithg thanks judith, only a little smile though :)
