She accompanied my Mum to My Mums Niece's (My Dad's Brothers Daughter) Daughter's Wedding on Saturday.
This is Claire before she went to the wedding.
Shot on my Canon 60D with my 50mm lens. Claire is stood by our front window, illuminated by natural light (light coming in from the right hand side of the frame). Jane held a big piece of white card (just out of shot on the left hand side of the frame) to bounce some light back onto Claire.
Post processed in Rawtherapee.
Rawtherapee is an excellent open source (that means it is free) photo editing suite. Rawtherapee has a "Natural Skin Tones" setting which I used to help create what I think is an excellent shot. At ISO 800 , it was quite a high setting and f3.2 throws the background out of focus.
I will use another shot from the set to add to my 50 mono portraits at 50,, series
You did a great job here Phil.....you are becoming a natural portrait photographer I think...it seems to be your forte! Claire must be very pleased with this shot....she is a beautiful girl! Great teeth & smile!
Excellent broadside lighting and composition. Thank you for sharing details of shot - I am about to embark on portrait, so this is all very interesting and helpful. Fav for me.
@happypat thanks Pat, I'm surprised how well my portraits turn out. One tip I learnt from Verity at our camera club is tilt your camera a little as this gives the portrait more dynamism. I think she was right :)
