Walking The Dog by phil_howcroft

Walking The Dog

I've done a similar shot to this before (I keep saying that recently, I suppose shots recycle after four years).

Today the local newspaper had a "photoshoot for dogs", They take a picture of your dog and then the hundreds that they have took over the week are printed in the newspaper and you the readers vote for your fave pic.

We took Ruby to Woodthorpe Park to enter her in the said competition.

This is a shot of a lady multitasking (drinking a coffee and walking her dog - view large to see) on her way to the said competition.

Edited in GIMP with a fancy pinstripe G'MIC border
Awesome shot

I'll be interested to see if there was any good photography in this competition! Good to see the dog is not pulling her over!

Good luck in the competition!! hope to see the shot you used. The photo I took of my sisters dogs about a week ago will be on the local news show in the early morning....along with many others of course!! But since I get up early anyway, I'll get to see it. I like this pov and the framing of the tree branches. The walker looks very intense and the dog is on a mission as well. Nice one Phil!

@seattle @eyesmile @maggiemae @kerristephens thanks eveyone. It is the local newspaper photographer who takes a picture if your dog and then publish it for readers to vote. It was not me taking a picture of ruby.

No chance of ruby winning as whippets do nit have the awwwww factor

I was hoping you would say Ruby won the competition for the best dog in her category, Phil. Love your capture and composition.

p.s. I don't drink my coffee on our walk!

Well I hope Ruby wins! Is it the Nottingham paper or Arnold? I bet people rally all their friends to vote - not like the old days when people actually chose their favourites!

Like the use of neg. space and the tree branches add to the comp. without being intrusive.
Good luck, Ruby!

@dulciknit oh yes good spot re the negative space alison :)

@judithg it is the "nottingham post" judith, our local paper. Ruby stands no chance, she has entered twice before and never won ! I think you are right regarding the voting system , Free entry to the competition !
