This is Izzy, who is the daughter of Mario from our camera club.
Mario brought her along to be a model as part of our model night.
Bob and Verity, two of our camera clubs most experienced and skilled studio photographers helped me with this shot, Bob set the lighting up (his own lights) and Verity suggested the pose (although I have done close up portraits before)
I have a mono version of this shot, but I have decided to post in colour as I like the blue eyes
Edited in Rawtherapee and shot on my Sony Alpha 6000
Such great eye lashes! Stunning girl, you have done her justice Phil! A lovely photo would be great either in black & white or colour but love the colour as it shows off the bloom on her cheeks! Shame not to see that!
@dulciknit thanks alison, I am really pleased with this one :)
@quietpurplehaze Haze, the crop is a technique I've seen used on several portraits (see flickr portrait groups) and it does work. I never tend to use it because I am nervous doing so, probably for the same uneasy reasons !
@quietpurplehaze it is OK Haze, my train of thought and that of others probably says "why crop the top off the head off the person", but we do see this genre in newspapers , magazines etc. I actually did the crop while photographing i.e.I went in close for the shot , what you see in the photo above is just about what was captured on the camera sensor
@phil_howcroft
I did wonder if you did the crop at the time. I am not against that crop per se but somehow wanted to see hair framing all the face in this case. Interesting, thanks for explainng.

I guess I also felt uneasy because I wanted to be honest about what I thought - but not negative!
