I met these two ladies at the Nottingham Green Festival on Sunday.
Molly is a musician songwriter and had just finished a set on the bandstand stage.
Caroline runs a charity "Bras not Bombs" and was the organiser for all the bandstand events on the day of the festival.
Bras not Bombs collect old bras and do fundraising to send new underwear to vulnerable women and girls in war-torn countries and refugee camps across the world. They had a banner on the stage reading "Donate a bra or a pack of new knickers and we will get it to our sisters....Standing strong all over the world"
After Molly had completed her set I hung around at the back of the bandstand to approach her for a photo.
As soon as I asked her for a photo she said "Yes" and also pulled Caroline into the frame. In fact I had to complete my intro to tell them about the 100 strangers bit as they were striking up poses straight away.
There is an interesting article in the Independent which describes Caroline's charity better than I can
What a great idea, not everyone would want to collect old underwear!
They look lively cheerful girls, spending their time doing good works & having a ball at the same time!
Such joyous ladies and what a great practical idea. When I was doing my training to be a dyslexia tutor, we often looked at language and its uses and in one session a lecturer contributed this snippet from some girls in an undeveloped and far flung country who called bras' knickers for up' - that has stayed with me! fav
@suzanne234 awww thanks for the kind words Suzanne. As for being a people person I just ask politely and try to engage them as I take the photos , I dont ask them to smile or not smile I just point the camera and click the shutter . Thanks again for your support
I like your project and the fact that all the people are sharing a tiny slice of their life and that sometimes it’s very surprising ... a very good lesson : never judging people on their appearance ! Well done Phil !
I just noticed I wasn’t following you , now I do 😉
