These are my flip flops, nice and comfy, ideal daytime footwear. There is quite a back story to these flip flops.
We's spent the afternoon on the beach and when it was time to pack up and return to the hotel, I dismantled the beach brolly and Jane packed the towels into the bag.
We were about to walk off the beach, for an early evening cafe con leche and a cheeky vino blanco seco at the hotel pool bar when I realised my flip flops weren't there !
"Where's my flip flops?" I said
"What do you mean , where are they " my wife replied
"They’ve gone "
"What do you mean they've gone, look in the bag"
"No they are not there, someone's stole them"
"I can;t believe that , why would they steal them"
"Well they are nice flip flops Jane, quite trendy. Maybe I kicked them off and didn't pick them up when we walked onto the beach"
"You wouldn;t have done that !"
So off we strolled trying to trace the path we took to the beach, checking everyone's feet for Replay flip flops. Jane looking in the waste bins to see if someone had put them in the bins
"I don't think we retraced our steps right , go back a different route !!!" So I went back to where we had been sat by a slightly different route ! To no avail.
"Do you want to borrow my flip flops to walk up the path?"
"No, if little kids can walk barefoot up the path, then I can too" I said that confidently but lttle stones kept digging into my feet
"Ask in the posh beach side restaurant, someone might have handed them in there"
"That;s ridiculous, nobody would do that"
"Do it, it;s worth a go "
So off I go into the posh restaurant asking if anyone had handed in flip flops, pointing at my feet to try and explain my dilemma.
The staff looked at me a bit strange, they thought I was asking if beach shorts and t-shirt was suitable attire for the restaurant (it wasn't btw) !!!
"Look the life guards are packing in and walking off the beach , ask them if somebody has handed them in!!"
So off I go running down the hill to catch the lifegaurds if they have seen my flip flops !!
"Are you life guards?"
They weren't they were the beach bar baristas going home with a back pack full of takings . I tried explaining about the missing flip flops , but they just shook there heads saying they "No understand amigo"
So we start walking up the hill to the hotel , just about get to the entrance and I say ...
"Did we just stay in the one spot in the beach?"
"No we didn't , we were going to sit by the back ropes , but rejected the location as you said lets sit by the waters edge as it wasn't too windy. I put the bags down, I bet you took them off there"
So off I went again , stones occasionally nipping my feet. Down the path , down the steps, along the beach and onto the back ropes !!!
I found them !!!
Off I walked back to the hotel with a big smile.
Jane was on the balcony looking for me , as i got closer to the hotel, I took the flip flops off and triumphantly lifted them above my head !
All this faffing about probably took well over half an hour and the poolside bar was closed, so we missed our cheeky vino blanco seco by the pool !!!

That;s the story of my flip flops, probably the most stressful / exciting thing that happened on our chillaxed holiday

I'd be gutted to lose (temporarily) my flip flops!! My 3 year old niece buried her crocs last week in the sand.... That was a fun 10 minutes trying to find them!!!
Ha ha, what a great story! I would have gone back to look too. It would have irritated me to not know what had happened to them! Smiling a big smile at your flip flops now. They must feel very loved :)
