Silky Water by phil_sandford

Silky Water

I'm still fascinated by the art of capturing 'silky water.' This is the shot I was taking when Leah turned up with her 'stick.' and is far from acceptable, it's handheld for one thing (camera balanced on my knees and held as still as I could as I held my breath for so many seconds). I know some people think it 'passe' but I really like the effect.

Just an extra shot uploaded; no need to comment
Put a Neutral Density Filter on your wish list ( but need tripod what's it thingy!!) Friends adore them for silky water and clouds.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Got a tripod, generally don't carry it when out with the girls (but I didn't know this stretch of babbling water existed (will do next time, (will also review Amazon for 'neutral density filter' and get told off when it arrives in post and I'm away))

@phil_sandford good luck!!! I'm not a fan of the effect, but friends have got amazing cloud and sea shots over a 4-10 minute time scale!

Beautiful effect here. I also like the silky waters. You did quite well for a hand-held shot!

I just checked your settings and you may have been able to reduce the shutter time required if you would have opened your aperture a bit to f-11 or bigger. That may have been enough time to get the effect.
