Ladybird by phil_sandford

Ladybird

Not sure what this Ladybird is doing burrowed deep into the top of this dead plant; don't know if Ladybirds hibernate. I was stood waiting for the Robins to appear and was trying macro shots (with a 70-300mm lens - not easy) when I saw the bright red of its wings.

A flash of red for a dull time of year
Great eye to see her there. Nice nscto. I like the negative space also.

Really nice, Phil. Kind of an amazing shot, he/she does look buried.

Ladybirds do hibernate. I don’t know if that is what that one is doing though. They usually like to huddle in corners around windows and eves with other ladybirds.

It is probably trying to hide from the birds.

Lovely shot mate. Ladybirds do hibernate. The find all manner of little crevices to hide away from the cold winter months in. Seen a few about lately though :)
