I've long suspected, if not known, that there was at least one Kingfisher in this area of the park; I'd seen the flash of blue over the years, but had never ever seen one on a perch.
Today, walking with Carole, I saw him sat on his perch on the opposite bank. Unfortunately, I only had my 6D and the 24-105mm lens, so what I captured was a spec of blue/gold in the grey of the bush, but as I've said "it's a Kingfisher." This has been heavily cropped, but it's the first one I have ever captured and I'm thrilled to bits (even if it is out of focus and still just a spec of blue in the grey of the bush)
I now know one of its perches and will be back, with right camera, right lens and tripod.
Who cares couldn't capture it, seeing is the important bit.
#2 daughter spotted two on Boxing Day on our walk, we just enjoyed watching them flit and fly!!
Now you know where they sit, you can take a chair and flask and stalk them!!
