The Butterfly and the Bee by phil_sandford

The Butterfly and the Bee

Roasting day today, again; as much as I love this weather, I really am wishing for rain now (at night obviously). My lawn is parched, my borders are parched (and at risk from a marauding mole who is tunneling up and down the border every night looking for food and destroying established plants)

Giving the plants a bit of water before I head South West in an hour or so, and even though the Buddlia is suffering (flowers and quickly dies) its still a drug to the bees and butterflies.
Lovely light in this. What happened in 1976, a drought? Sorry about the mole!

@louannwarren The last decent summer; everybody of my generation harks back to the long summer of 1976. This year, that is going to stop

I think '77 was pretty good too, as The Queen monarch for 25 years and weather was fab then too!! Love your mole, he's aerating your soil (according to a book I'm currently reading!)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yup, ‘77 was pretty good also (my last school Summer holiday, had to get a job in the Sept) but there were no standpipes and hosepipe bans in ‘77.

Your poor garden! At least you can still provide food for the butterflies and bees!
Our drought is supposed to end in the next few days - maybe yours will as well.
