Spirit of Lincoln by phil_sandford

Spirit of Lincoln

Carole and I have spent much of the day strolling around Woodhall Spa as it is their 1940s Festival.

This is a photograph of one of, I believe, only two Avro Lancaster WWII heavy bombers still still licensed to fly in the world (the other is Canadian) over the skies of Lincolnshire this afternoon. The sound of twin Rolls Royce Merlin engines in the Lincolnshire sky is enough to bring tears to the eyes if any Englishman.

Spirit of Lincoln is maintained and flown by the Royal Air Force’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) based at RAF Conningsby.

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
