The Bay by pinkpaintpot

The Bay

They put in the much needed sea defences to stop the town flooding at high tides. The hope is that these groynes would also create or hold some sand. As you can see there is a lovely growth of some sort of sea grass. But it still makes a good habitat for the birds. Further into town the have put sand in between the groynes and it seems to be staying put, except on windy/stormy days then it ends up on the prom. It is lovely to see families playing on the beach on sunny days.
A lovely sea scape

the groins have worked well at Sidmouth Devon where the pebble beach was being constantly eroded away. Hope they work well for your region

Much of our coast is being washed away and creating longshore drift further round the coast
