but it takes 4 hours to walk over the bay with the Queens guide, Cedric Robinson. He goes out the day before and looks where the safe route through the quick-sands and pushes branches in to mark the route. A tractor follows on the day to pick up stragglers. The tractors are used for fishing as they catch Morecambe bay shrimps and cockles here.
One of the most dangerous places to go around the British Isles if you don't know the sands. Great capture and the Queens Guide does a great job, watch a programme on him.
Isn't it somewhere here where the cockle pickers drowned not that long ago? Sounds a bit risky to cross these quick-sands, but the view across the bay is beautiful.
I know lots of people who have done this walk across the Morecambe Bay but I think it would freak me out big time! He must be getting near retirement now so if I was going to do it I would rather follow him! His experience is key! My brother lives in Grange over Sands so I have often seen the tide way out. Lovely photo Linda!
