Gosh I always thought we would be unaffected by floods. but the sub station got flooded and we were one of 55000 hones with out power. thank goodness we had some led lights ready for the wedding and lots of candles. tea was scrambled egg and toast. we had elderly neighbours in to warm as we have a coal fire.
@dizzyd@gijsje@countrylassie thank you, the powers problems are on going and some may experience another power cut tonight. I have rushed around making stewed apple (comfort food) and scones they will go well with a glass of wine tonight if the lights go out! !
You have my sympathy Linda, I have been glued to the News and so pleased I live on a hill but still could be effected if the power plant was flooded. Good for you with the elderly as well.
@ladymagpie it would be hard for us to get flooded too, but so glad to have another form of heating and cooking although it is hard to prepare a meal by candle light, how did the weavers work in the old days i wonder?
I hope you got your power back by now?! But isnt that lovely too when you are not alone and kinda creates an atmosphere. However it would be nicer without a flood in the background
Linda - I had an emergency light install in my kitchen/diner years ago. It charges all the time and if the power goes off it gives me 6 to 7 hours light. Great if it happens at night but useless if the power goes off in the morning as the power has gone by night.
@annika82@ladymagpie@pennystot@carolmw thank you for your comments and well wishes. power has been under threat all week and still not sure if we are fully supplied by the sub station yet. they have been asking us to be economical with electric use and no unnessary lighting outside eg Christmas lights. :)
