Imperfect poached egg or not, it's made a good photo! Here's how to do it: Break the egg into a cup. While the water is boiling, swish it around (in one direction only) very fast then quickly pour the egg into the centre of the whirlpool. Probably best to take the pan off the heat first. Cook on low heat - you don' want it to boil vigorously because it will break up the egg. The white should wrap itself around the yolk. Remove with a slotted spoon when ready. Voila - a perfect poached egg. I would have some smoked haddock ready and put the poached egg on top. A perfect combination! (And I would also butter the toast) :)
