Scorched earth

This is our government's new scorched earth policy! This would be funny if it wasn't so real and disastrous.
What's missing in this photo? Undergrowth, completely burnt along with everything living in it.
Currently making our first visit to the coast house since the fires.
Oh how awful Wylie, hope your coast house has no damage.

Heartbreaking to see this. Wishing you the best possible for your own home.

So tough for you guys. Hopefully things will be ok at the house.

so sad to see, hope you get some good rains that will restore the undergrowth, unfortunately it will all take time.

A beautiful image, but a very sad story. I hope everything's ok at your house.

It's such a sad story, but glad you are ok and photographing it for documentation.

@ludwigsdiana @taffy @dide @mv_wolfie @jamibann @jyokota thanks for your concern everyone . Fire came to the end of our street but brilliant firies and a plane load of fire retardants saved the village.

I want to comfort you. Earth fares well with fires. It all depends how deeply the fire has entered the ground. First come pyrophytes and pirophiles and then the rest come back. The danger is a man who will immediately start concreting to secure...

that's an arresting image. very glad to hear that your house was saved

It's a sad indictment on our politicians that they can still deny the science behind Climate Change - they have had at least 20 years notice and ignored it. Your picture tells the story so well.

@haskar sadly all the creatures won’t recover so well😢
@robz they should end up in court for crimes against humanity!

I’m so sorry. I know your country is reeling from the fires! After the California fires a few years ago the Eucalyptus trees had to be removed from big areas, just so hard to imagine, they were such beautiful trees.

Wow... so devastating!

Your photo shows the aftermath of the viscous fires. Thankfully your village was spared.
January 20th, 2020
Devastating...I hope that your home is okay.
January 20th, 2020
Very sad
January 20th, 2020
Will these trees survive?
January 20th, 2020
It's sad to see the loss and devastation, but life springs back, sometimes stronger than before.

very poignant image

@jqf hi Jacquie, some have begun to sprout already, others won’t make it. As for the missing wildlife? The forest was very quiet😥
