This window in the dairy of a country house caught my eye when we visited. One of the dairymaids, who worked here, caught the eye of the master of the house. He married her when he was 70 and she was 21. (Local society was scandalised at the time.) The marriage lasted over 20 years until his death in 1846 at age 90. She then inherited a secure future. So I imagine that both he and she had good reason to say thank you.

Thank you Graham aka Bulldog for taking on the not inconsiderable task of sorting the words each month for word of the day. I find it good having a challenge and a focus and I think it engenders even more community spirit.
Thank you - it's funny that some shots you just take and they are easy to just post but this one took quite a bit of thought and effort to put together with the text - but I enjoyed doing it!
A beautiful capture and a great story.

The selfie, sometimes , somewhere , somehow I`ve to do it.
The reason why I don`t is because I`m not very interested how someone/people looks like. Don`t misunderstand it , If I`ve met a friend and tell my wife I can`t answer that question either. I only can say how (s)he of (s)he was nice and gently and so on. But the color of her hair ? or shoes ?
I judge on character. The last pic of me was taken by my son , years age. I guest that don`t count as a selfie
I completely understand what you say about judging on character and I would add that what someone looks like often depends on how they are reacting to the person they are looking at, don't you think? (Their personality comes from inside.) For example I can't take true selfies (only silly ones reflected in the top of bathroom taps!) because I can't smile at a camera but I can smile at Ray behind the camera! In spite of all this, I think it's nice to have an image of somebody in one's mind when looking at their pics on here. Maybe you could get your son to take an up-to-date photo? (I'm not pressurizing you in any way of course - you know that!)
