'red': window by Marc Chagall in Chichester Cathedral
unveiled in 1978
"The triumphal quality of this chant is expressed by the dominance in the composition of the colour red (red on white, on green, on yellow) broken up by a certain number of green, blue and yellow blobs. This is the first time that Marc Chagall has conceived a subject composed entirely of small figures......."

A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Well I'm going to try to do most days but it looks harder this time. But that's what I thought last month and I think I managed nearly every day after all!
Thank you all for comments. I love this Chagall window and have been to see it three times already - guess I will be going again some time. It's quite hard to photograph, being so high up in the wall and
(I can hardly bear to say it) I think my previous (pre-365) photos were better than the ones I took this time!!!
Just added it as a Fav - thank you for reminding me of it through your 365 entries - we want to get to Chichester again soon. I lived in West Wittering as a boy and knew and loved the cathedral then. Once I carried a candle at a Candlemas procession there! (just after Christmas) Quite understand about bipolar.
Thanks, Ivan, for visiting this page and for comments & fav, and understanding too. We probably will visit Chichester again next week as we are having a week at Bracklesham Bay with friends - by the seaside but not too sure if it will be seaside weather!
Thank you Hazel. Enjoy Bracklesham. My parents moved there in 1945 or 46. We lived for a few years in a bungalow with direct access to the sea, great in summer, cold and windy in winter! I have a cousin who lives there now, he moved there from Poole.
