This church in Glasgow was the only one of those designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh to actually be built, hence it is also known as the Mackintosh Church.
After it was de-commissioned, it became the home of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society. Clare worked here as a volunteer for a while and we visited it on one of our trips to see her.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
I love all things Mackintosh but had not heard of this one. Interesting, but I would not immediately recognize it as his work. Nice set of photos though.

I have to confess, Arthur, I'm a little surprised that you did not think this so typical of Mackintosh? I know his brief was 'simplicity' as it was Free Church of Scotland so maybe that's it. I didn't post my shot of the exterior because of the intrusion of street furniture but there's a good shot here http://www.mackintoshchurch.com/

I so agree with you, Mary. I can sit here at my computer and go places I'll never actually go to!
Glasgow is fabulous for art and culture - another place we loved was CRM's House for an Art Lover
