A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Beautiful, also a FAV! We are off soon on maybe our last fling while here to South Africa for a couple of weeks starting a week from now. Hope we'll find internet but don't know exactly what to expect.
I love Lily of the Valley. They were my mother's favourite and we brought some from my parent's bungalow in Worthing to our other house and then to here. They flourish in a shady spot. They are special. Thank you for sharing this lovely image. (I'm not really giving fav's any more - nor do I expect any! - but I make an exception for this one...fav!)
Thank you for your comment, Ivan. It does seem that lily of the valley are special for several people. Yes, ours are in a shady spot at the bottom of our garden not far from the stream. And thanks for the fav and I have noticed that I am not giving many now either, not sure why!
Thank you everybody for your appreciation and comments. It does seem that these little flowers have a special place in people's hearts, as much for their perfume which evokes childhood memories as for their understated beauty. Amazing to think that they are poisonous!
Thank you, Karin. I only recently learnt that they are poisonous.
My grandmother had them in the garden - well it was probably my granddad's garden but I always thought of the allotment as his and the garden as hers!
Many thanks for comment and fav!
Thanks Darren, shame I can't send the scent!
Thank you! And have a good time in South Africa soon.
