You may just be able to see a chap at the front of the 'carrelet' in the main pic. He and his friend were fishing, lowering the net down into the water and up again. Ray felt sure he could see ONE fish in the net.

Thanks both for your comments. I think fishing like this is only in a certain part of France - the Atlantic coast and corresponding rivers - I was fascinated when I first saw these.
