The way the French honour important dates and people, by naming streets, roads and squares, after them, intrigues me. But how strange I think it would sound in English:
"Where do you live?"

A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Your comment is very interesting and true. I lived some years in Quito, Ecuador, and I used to joke that there you need a calendar instead of a map; most of the streets are dates.
Great observation - and I think I am right in saying that there is an official limited list of street names etc which has to be consulted, you cant just call a street anything you please.
Ah, that's interesting, didn't know that. I believe that you can't call/baptise your child just anything either?! Or your dog - or is that one step too far!!!
Yes alittle strange but not to bad ...i can think of some odd ones around here ? ..one named Magroy street ? ...it's named after two councillors who married ? ...one called Mag one called Roy !!! LOL ....talk about vain !! ...lol
that's interesting, thank you.
