I just love barn owls. There were two in an aviary but the minute they spotted me and my camera, they retreated to the security of their little 'house' and did not re-appear.
This young female barn owl was part of the flying demo, same markings as a European barn owl but darker colouring. I found it hard to concentrate on listening to the handler and taking pics at the same time so I don't know her name.
So many thanks for all your interest, views, comments and favs. I see Mrs Jones is on PP this morning. I had so much fun taking these photos!
Another beautiful owl and image of it, Hazel, nice and sharp. Would be a fav but the closeness to the left edge troubles me (personal thing, judges always mention this and I tend to agree.)
Great photo! I've never seen a barn owl, but I was lucky enough to see and photograph a Great Grey Owl this morning. My photo is not as good as yours. He was quite tired after being up all night! LOL. http://365project.org/richardhoeg/365/2014-03-15
Chris, thank you. I'm pleased that at last I seem to have got to grips with using my Panasonic bridge camera - I've not liked it too much until now! (And have been blaming the camera!)
Do you mean left or right? i.e. looking at the owl or from owl's pov?!
I agree with all that you say!
No, this was a shot taken during the display so not much time to take it.
Those barn owls are certainly right about the weather just now.
That's what I thought you meant and I can see what you mean but no remedy in the circumstances! (I think my Panasosnic FZ62 has proved itself?!)
Margo, I wish she was mine! (Well, have nowhere to keep her really!)
Paula, thank you, and funny you should say that - my husband just said the same today!
Claire, you're so kind! (I do similar things sometimes too!)
Chris, thank you. I'm pleased that at last I seem to have got to grips with using my Panasonic bridge camera - I've not liked it too much until now! (And have been blaming the camera!)
Good luck and happiness!
Thank you - what a lovely thing to say, Alex!
Tu-whit tu-whoo - you do know me, don't you? Just as well!
