Seen over the South Downs on a clear, sunny but windy day, with no rain.
I did a bit of research and think these are also called fire rainbows. If anyone can add any info, I'll be interested.
Thanks, all, for propelling my 'tulip selfie' to PP!
I suddenly remembered yesterday that April 1st this year was the 45th anniversary of our first date. Ray & I went to the cinema to see 'The Trap' - and the rest is history, as they say..... I'm not going to make a facile comment about sunshine, rain, clouds and rainbows!
What a great find. Can't help you with what it is called but Sally @hermann may be able to help you she is the expert in Australia for everything to do with clouds and rainbows etc. Can you help Sally?
An interesting phenomena Hazel. I have googled fire rainbows and they are Circumhorizontal Arcs, though not sure that this is one. I don't know where the sun is in relation to the arcs, I wonder if the small area is a Sun Dog.
Either way Hazel it is a great find and great shot. Babs is singing my praises indeed, I am just a crazy cloud nerd when it's all boiled down :))))

Thank you - I'll give the credit to my friend, Ellie, who saw it first!
