This is a climbing rose called 'compassion' which grows on the kitchen wall of our house.
I picked the first bloom of this season to put on the table when a friend came for a meal last evening. What a shame I can't send its gorgeous peachy fragrance to you.
70 years ago today my dad was spending his first full day at home after arriving back from his 3 years as a PoW. He wrote in his diary: 'Slept til midday'.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Isn't it wonderful to see the roses coming into bloom. This is a gorgeous one and how lovely of you to pick it for your friend. Really like your new profile pic. :-)
A lovely capture I can smell it from here... almost. It is great for you to look in your dads diary and see he was home at last. Have a lovely day look forward to your pics.
Beautiful shot, It almost reminds me of Ansell's shot, Rose and wood. And what a happy day it must of been for your family when your dad arrived home after what he went through I don't blame him for being so tired.
Beautiful capture. Love that you have a diary kept by your dad. What wonderful memories they must be. I have a friend in Alaska that has kept a daily diary science he was a young boy. He is now in his 70's.
Think we are off to Mottisfont today so I will probably have a surplus of rose pix!
Great that you have your dad's diary.
Research and market one - you could become rich!!!
A lovely comment, thanks - I'll keep practising!
We went to Mottisfont (NT) today - lots of full blown roses there.
