This is Mark - or Bill (as he introduced himself to me) - who was at the flower stall in Winchester Market talking to Scott, whose portrait I posted yesterday.
It was somehow just natural to ask Bill (he said that's what he prefers to be called) to also pose for a photo when he was holding my bunches of flowers while I took Scott's portrait.
Bill told me he is unable to work as he broke his neck and back in a car accident 27 years ago. He has a strict regime of treatment to keep him going including, as you would imagine, good quantities of painkillers.
I admired and respected his cheerfulness to be out and about at the market. He jokingly told me that he is tea-boy for the stall holders.
This is the first time I've found 3 strangers' portraits in one outing: Don, the artist in the cathedral, Scott at his flower stall, and Bill, his friend. I always feel privileged to capture even one.
Another great story, what a successful outing it was. My wife has an uncle who's name is Bob (or Bogdun in Ukranian), who is called Bill at work. I have no idea why either.
a great smile and story Haze and a top portrait too.
There are a lot of textures and tones in his face, which I think you could emphasise even more with some post processing . Having said that I am a little wary of doing so on my portraits !
