'anniversary' on this day in 1890 of the death of Vincent van Gogh
My collage shows pics I took at the monastery of St Paul de Mausole, in St Rémy de Provence, which we visited a few years ago and where van Gogh stayed when he was unwell. He moved on to Auvers-sur-Oise where he died at the Auberge Ravoux - I shall not tell the stoy as it is probably familiar to most people.
In 2002 I was lucky enough to visit the Van Gogh Museum's exhibition of paintings by van Gogh and Gauguin during the time they stayed at The Yellow House in Arles and stil have the catalogue (a bit frayed on some edges where dear little Jinks chewed it when he was a puppy!)
I found the book 'The Yellow House' by Martin Gayford illuminating. There are two people in history whom I would like to have met and van Gogh is one of them.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
A great tribute to one of ours greatest painter. Did you ever read all his correspondence with his brother ? I wonder the strange relation they both have had. The brother `ve always payed his living.
I've read some of his letters online on the website - it's very interesting to think about their relationship and of their whole family, too. l like the site because I can read the letters he wrote in French (but not, of course, those he wrote in Dutch.)
Great tribute to a wonderful man! I, too, would have loved to have met him and gotten inside his mind. He was a special person with a very unique vision. The world needs more like him.
The other is my musical hero, Vivaldi. I don't know very much about his life but I love his music. Thank you for your appreciation and the fav, Karin.
That would be interesting to see.

Ferry, you are more than welcome.
