over the bridge: a couple of views in Bishops Waltham
for those of you who were intrigued by the bridge over the pond http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/add-ins/2013-08-26
these are houses and a restaurant in the town. I've always loved houses like those in the pic on the right, probably because they are like the cottage my grandparents lived in . But that was in a little Suffolk village, called Claydon and just '2 up 2 down', outside privy down the yard for many years and in their time, never a proper bathroom indoors.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
I agree that it does look a tad misleading - perhaps should have reversed the position of the photos. Hope your sleep did you good. Jinks and I have also had a siesta this afternoon and we neither of us really have an excuse!
I'd need an indoor privy too! My nana did get a flushing loo when she was living alone there later but it was just outside the back door in a little building so still not inside! She lived to be 91.
Two lovely pic.`s of this beautiful house and flowers.
Claydon , near Ipswich.? I just visit this place with Google earth and street view . I suppose it have chance.
At my Grandmothers house there was only a pump and tub for bathing in the barn
The water for my grandparents' house came from a pump at the end of the row of 4 cottages and they had a tin bath indoors. Yes, Claydon, near Ipswich. My sister and I were born at Paper Mill Lane, Claydon and the family then moved to Ipswich when I was 5. Ray and I and Neil moved from Ipswich to Hampshire in 1973.

I'm glad it brings memories for you too and thanks for another fav, Rosie!
Well have tea with us too then as we are only 4 miles away!
I hated the privy mostly because it backed on to the dark coal shed. What big changes in our lifetime!
